Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about product development, manufacturing, quality, and working with Summit Gear.

Getting Started

You do not need to have everything finalized before contacting us. Helpful information may include product sketches or reference images, drawings or CAD files, physical samples, target materials, expected order quantities, target cost, intended use, target market and preferred launch timeline.

If some of these details are not yet defined, our team can help you work through them during the development process.

Yes. Some customers come to us with only a basic product concept or exterior design. Our engineering team can develop the internal structure, refine the technical details and turn the concept into a manufacturable product.

Our sales team can also provide input on product direction, market positioning and go-to-market considerations based on the customer’s target market.

Yes. We can put an NDA in place before you share confidential drawings, CAD files or other sensitive project information.

Protecting customer product information is a basic principle of how we work.

Product Development

Yes. Our engineering team can work from your existing product, drawings, CAD files or physical samples to support design for manufacturing (DFM) review, prototyping, product improvements and the transition to production.

Yes. We can support custom packaging, logos, colors, materials and finishes.

Our graphic design team can create packaging for your project or produce packaging based on your existing design.

Production & Manufacturing

We send physical samples for your review and approval. If changes are needed, our R&D team makes the necessary revisions and sends updated samples for confirmation.

Once the sample is approved, we carry out a small pilot production run and testing. Full-scale production begins only after the pilot run passes the required checks and receives your approval.

We usually charge a sample fee, which is fully refunded once you place an order.

Tooling paid for by the customer remains the customer's property. It is stored and maintained at our facility for the customer's production and is not used for other customers.

If a quality issue is identified during production, our production team reports it immediately to our quality and engineering teams and isolates the affected products or process.

Production of the affected portion is paused while the quality and engineering teams evaluate and test the issue, then provide a corrective solution before production continues.

Yes. We can work according to customer-provided quality standards, inspection requirements and testing criteria.
